This museum is settled in the former stables of the Baron Foullon built in 1774.
Inside, 2 streets reconstitute the trading ways of the formercity and
tresent about twenty shops, included shop windows, such as they were
tround 1900s. The inside of every business collects tools and accessories
tifferent professions by time: watchmaker-jeweler, trader of hats...
An excellent means to go back up of hundred of years behind and to realize that at these times there, if the means were simple, the craftiness and the ideas did not miss.

Les Arènes :
against to common belief, does not date from the Roman times, but was built between
the 15th or 16th century, situated a few hundred yards from the center of town. This amphitheater
has the distinction of being built below ground level and carved out of the stone 35 meters long, 28 meters wide and 7
or 8 meters in depth. How these arenas were used is uncertain, but part of the legend is that it was used for
naval battles and public baths, but because there was no way to bring water to this enclosure, it was
probably used for entertainments and festivals. This is how it is used today, during the Journées de la rose.

La Rose Bleue :
the art lovers are not forgotten with this workshop of pottery in underground passage. Several months of works were necessary for this potter-ceramist to restore the origin aspect of the place. You will discover the work of the earth with a tour and the alchemy of enamels in original colours, creations of the artist. The production is exposed in a "perrière" on 100m ² and you can command a personnal realization of utilitarian or ornamental objects. Possibilities of training, initiation or perfection are proposed for children and adults, inquire.

La Sablière :
in this cellar of falun dating the XIIIth century, you will discover a disappeared activity: a craft distillery of rose water with its ancient still warmed in the campfire. Through the visit you will cross the cellar of the roses, the cellar with fossils which many come from the region and a reconstruction of old troglodytic houses

The fountains :
The date of their creation is unknown, one only know that they had a shape of horseshoe
and that they were restored by the Baron Foullon in 1767. Near the town centre, they measure
44 metres long for 26 metres wide. In 1908 the washerwomen obtained the construction of a roof which, with no valid reason, was demolished at the end of the 80's. These fountains served as laundry until the 50's, date in which an adjacent watering place was filled because of development of cars..

The Carolingian House :
situated in 1 km from the city, it was a place of residence of Charlemagne's son, what allows to date its construction in the neighborhood of 800. It was raised of a floor at about Xth century and became a fortress. In the XIth century it was buried and put around by a ditch, giving birth to one Mound which was of use as base to the construction of a donjon. Afterward this donjon was destroyed but its Foundation stay as a clod called " feudal clod ". This construction of Carolingian time was forgotten and so protected
for 950 years until 1967 when the town, wanting to create a distric of houses, brought it back to life what is considered as the first castle of Doué la Fontaine.

The St Denis collegiate church :
built between 1030 - 1040 and became a source of conflict with the church of Cunault. They sudden so the wars of the XIVth and XVIth century, then lost its status of parochial church at the beginning of the XIXth
century for the benefit of the current church St Pierre. At the end of the XIXth
the town purchased the building which had been partially unsettled for the stones business. It stayed as is since.
