A LITTLE OF HISTORY
- The church St-Jean-Baptiste with single nef, transept and apse of the XIth century, Romanic gate with decorated arches and arrows in skeleton of the XVIIIth century.
- The former priorale chapel of Chavais from XIIth century in the village of Chavais is in a farmyard.
- Existance of 3 Dolmens : those of Saugré, of Pierre-Péteux and Chavais.
- Houses of XVth century in Saugré.
- One subterranean dovecote in Niverdière.
- The menhir "la Pierre-qui-Vire" of Virolais.
- The underground passage refuge named "Caves des Mousseaux".
- Under the former presbytery are more than 200 figurines of the XVIth century sculptured in the cliff.
TODAY
Surrounded with wood and with paturages, the commune produces wines and cereal as well as some tobacco.
Curious and unusual, the "Cellar with sculptures" is the testimony of funny and biting glances on the characters of the XVIth century.
