A LITTLE OF HISTORY

- The old prieuré Saint - Aubin of which the only remaining part is the chorus of the église and which dates the XIth century. The church was restored the XIXth end

- Windmills, one called "bleuces", only cavier-mill still complete, the four other ones are in ruin.

- The "canal de Monsieur": from 1774 till 1779 works are made to make navigable the river of Concourson to Chalonnes-sur-Loire. 42 km of way and 24 locks and have the name of "Monsieur", brother of Louis XVI, who gave his support. The channel is useful during 20 years with conveyed wine and coal of the mine, located on the commune of Saint-George-sur-Layon, but the revolution is fatal for him.

TODAY

If the municipality contains market-garden productions and breeding, it is so historically a wine village and produce excellent wines resulting from vines "Chenins" and "Cabernet".

The pedestrian path of "Terre Noires ", organized with the municipality of Saint-Georges-sur-Layon, allows to follow the river and to find the tracks of the mining activity of the XIXth century.
